According to that table the one due to pass on the 8th will come within 70,000-80,000 kilometres of the Earth, one fifth of the distance to the moon?
With a diameter of 6.3m-14m that would be absolutely devastating.

its .2 of the distance to the moon, so ~75,000km

That is beyond awesome! And scary.

Like that table has a serious amount of objects coming our way.
    Fascinating stuff.

I think that's quite small to do any damage if it gets trapped in earths gravity. It'ld most probably break up into several smaller fragments and disintegrate. Maybe a small bit might hit the ground. It might be a good sight if it does fall onto earth. Though i really doubt it would do any damage.

Very high probability because of it's size it'll just get slightly deflected by earths gravity and will drift off into space. Which is what will probably happen.

It's thought that the Chicxulub crater in Mexico was created by an object 6 miles in diameter and was a major step (perhaps with other impacts) in wiping out the dinosaurs.

If you scroll down to Effects you can see how devastating it is thought to have been.

Yeah but isn't this one 6-14meters?
Which is smaller than the space shuttle...

I know a meteor a km wide can be close to apocalyptic...

    Is it?
Thats a fail on my behalf then, I will now facepalm.

EDIT: Ah yes, just checked. The larger ones are listed in kilometres and smaller ones in metres. Two muck ups in one thread.
We're not all going to die this week.

Think I will join the Astronomy club this year in college find out more about all this stuff.

So if it landed somewhere in Columbia...can't they roughly pinpoint where it could have landed and find it?

^someone might have probably nicked it by the time the scientists get to it. And then they'ld turn into a giant green monster. To be captured by a secret military department and later recruited to fight off a diabolical alien planing on taking over the planet...

    Excellent video.

So it says earth will become uninhabitable within one day....but once everything is burnt and the atmosphere begins to settle again....how long would it take for life to begin again like grass and things like that?

    Or micro-organisms?

    Really good thanks.
Brilliant the way it showed Japan being ripped up.
If something like that was to happen in my own lifetime, would be nice to have a good view. :)
