I have my Jailbroken 3GS currently running 3.1.3 and I ended up making a mess of sbsettings preferences and the only way I can see that I'll get it to work will be to restore it. I want to put the 4.0 software on it so I'll be able to jailbreak it, preferably through jailbreakme.com
I've heard I have to save blobs? so I can downgrade back to 3.1.3 if I wanted to? How do I do that?

Is there a way to put 4.0 firmware on my phone seeing as apples latest release is 4.0.2?

    Thanks!
    :D

yes its easy go to http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and download 4.0 for the 3gs then go to itunes and press update but before you press update hold the shift key and then click update then just find the firmware you downloaded and double click it and it will do the rest

You can only do that if you have shsh bobs saved for 4.0 and then add cydias ip address to your hosts file. Then you can option - restore.

It's not as straightforward as the above post.

You probably have shsh saved for 4.0 if you clicked make my life easier in cydia at some stage.

Can you not uninstall Sbsettings and reinstall again?

I could be wrong but I thought if you are on 3.1.3 and click on Make my life easier I though the shsh save will be for 3.1.3 not for 4.0

Thanks for the replies! Gonna restore then upgrade tomorrow if it's possible for 4.0 firmware. But will my shsh bobs only be stored if I am on the firmware when it's released and then I jailbreak?

I've tried but every time I install it again the preferences are still stored on the phone. Problem with it is that I turned off the Left-to-right slide at the top and I've no way of accessing the board. I've even deleted everything with 'sbsettings' in it's name via windows explorer with 'iphone folders'.
