    I have HD projector which i use for playing my ps3 but i recently moved house and none of the rooms are large enough to benefit from the projector , I paid 700 euros for the projector last year but i would be willing to swap for a LCD HD tv , give me a call on 0871218632 if you are interested

    I have used projectorppoint for a replacement bulb, which was all done online via their website, and was a hassle free process, with good communication, and speedy delivery, so no complaints.

    They offer advice on their site here (which should get you started), and you can then also call them to discuss your queries also. You will also need to consider where you intend to place the PJ, and do you have flexibility in this regard? If you are constrained you might require lense shift as another criteria.

    Once you have some options, google around for reviews, etc..

    Another good source is AVForums, which you can browse recent threads on the same topic of "which projector" for ideas. You might be able to see limited demo's in Peats, Sevenoaks, Cloney Audio, and some Harvey Normans used to also have some screens/PJ's.

    Also, unless you are getting a screen as part of the projector purchase as an offer, I would probably hold off, and just use your wall (assuming its a bright colour, ideally white), until you at least get use to the image size you like. Then you can source a screen or go the DIY route.

    @Carpenter, I bought a screen from them, had a good chat before I purchased and haggled quite a bit on the price and got a fair bit off. I was going to purchase my projector there also but got it in the states instead.
    Screen arrived in perfect nick in 2/3 days AFAICR.

    where did u order the screen from? projectorpoint or pixmania?

    the reason i ask is i got a projector from projectorpoint, but they wudnt send a screen to ireland, this was back in may though!

    @Carpenter

    i got the epson eh-tw450 from projectorpoint, excellent service from those guys, im very happy with the projector, 3 yr warrenty on the unit and bulb stole it for me

    3d projectors i would forget about for a while, none of them work with sky 3d or 3d bluray players, they use a nvidia based system which works thru ur pc, which then connects to ur projector

    @BArra

    Sorry for the delay in relying, infrequent visitor to this forum.
    I ordered from ProjectorPoint, wouldn't touch Pixmania for something as expensive as a screen. Got a Panoview electric 120" screen (still in the box until I finish refurb of sitting room). They did point out it comes with a UK and not an EU warranty (18 months) so I would be responsible for return costs etc. June purchase.

    @Carperter
    I agree with BArra, 3D is a fad, no content worth talking about, by the time your PJ dies it may have taken off properly.

    There are one or two Projectors out now that tout the fact that they are 3D compatible but as Barra says, they are not compatable with 3D Bluray or Sky 3D Channel(OCT launch) and you need to use N-Vidias system via a PC. This is very poor form by those manufacturers sticking a 3D badge on these projectors when in reality they just happen to be capable of a fast enough refresh rate to work with the N-Vidia system. Misleading jumping on the bandwagon.

    Proper 3D projectors are coming to the market within the next few months with several manufacturers showing their new 3D models at this years IFA2010 event in Berlin and Cedia2010 in Atlanta in the next week or so. However, these are flagship models. Its going to be another few years before the 3D functionality trickles down to the cheaper models. That means big €€€ for the next year or three which doesn't meet your budget criteria.

    I would recommend a cheap 720p or 1080p model to give you the big screen experience for the next year or three and by the time 3D comes out in lower pricepoints you will also have learned what you like or dislike about various models and projection technologies and where you stand on the price/performance and law of diminishing returns issue (eg, I'll pay double for a 50% improved picture but I won't pay double for the last 5% improvement etc) and then you can make an educated decision about what kind of 3D PJ you want and how much you are willing to increase your budget.
