SSC is back with a new model and it wants the speed record. This time with 1350bhp...
And this one looks the part too! (unlike the old one that looked like a kit car)...

So do you think SSC will beat the Veyron SS's record?
And how would Bugatti respond to this...?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Agreed and agreed. Bring it on though :)

Competition is good and I've no doubt one of the reasons VAG created the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (dodgy name :D) is to reclaim the title of fastest production car in the world...

Yeah sure whats so exciting about the hyper-cars of america & europe travelling at speeds in excess of 430kph in a duel to see which is the fastest production car on earth?

Who cares? Probably anyone whos ever had a poster of a lamborghini, ferrari or a McClaren f1 on their bedroom wall as a kid. Millions of people i'd say.:)

    I care. :pac:

I had the posters and cared very much - when I was 12. Oh, and it's McLaren.;)

Seriously though, i'm very glad such cars exist, but they don't do much for me personally.

Apologies i tend to just fire out posts without pedant-proofing them.:D;)

I think the world would be a very boring place without these machines. I still find it quiet exciting seeing them push ever closer to achieving 300mph.

Go on, you know you want to....

Me too! I am about as old (middle age) as those two above nay sayer pensioners ;) but I do care about developments in the automotive world. Especially when they have anything to do with superfast cars with massive petrol engines :D

Full pictures have leaked now. Looks like a mix between the Ferrari P4/5 (same designer actually) and Maserati Birdcage concept. Big improvement over the old design which was a mess. If this car ever goes on sale (which is still uncertain) it will be around $1 Million. I don't think anyone will be jumping at the chance to buy one of these, especially when Ferrari, Pagani and McLaren have their own ~$1M supercars on the way. Unless your a sheik and already have everything else.

Performance figures race is a joke now. Honestly dont care if it goes 0.5 mph faster than a Veyron. Thats what SSC's cars are solely based on, its pretty sad.

Exactly. Its these sort of wonder cars with pioneering technology that eventually contribute to the advancement of every day regular cars.

The technology filters down if its successful enough.

And the idea of travelling at 270mph in a car that has aircon & leather seats & the comfort of a sports tourer is just insane.:D

Saw this on the new top gear magazine, very daft, the motorbike companies were at this years ago but they realised the stupidity and now they all just say they go fast.

I had a look on the bugatti website and saw "the top speed is limited to 415kph (to protect the tyres)"

I'd rather see "the top speed is limited to 200kph (to protect the public)

Why so if you hit someone at 124mph it will limit some of the damage to some poor fecker.

I wonder when we will see the first car to crack 300mph? Ill give it 5 years.

Well at least it looks better than their last effort, which was a shabby car!

'In My Day' it was the 'Decisions' poster, with a Porsche 959, a Countach and, I think, an F40?

    Anyone remember that?

(Also had a Sam Fox poster too, and that was pre-airbag!)

Well it's not a case of if you hit someone at that speed but more of the driver has a chance to react in time.

415kph is 380 feet per second, thats a pretty long road , someone pulls out that far down the road and you have 1 second to impact.

Now I know its unlikely anyone will be heading down to grab a paper at 415kph but the numbers are still pretty incredible.
