Im starting Architecture at DIT Bolton St and it looks like I'm going to be commuting to Dublin each day from Dundalk. Its not so bad an hour and ten mins to dublin on the bus and a 5-10min walk to Bolton St.

    Anyone else in this situation?

Yep, I'm in the same situation, going to be driving from Monasterevin to the Red Cow, get a LUAS into town then bus to Aungier Street. I'm doing Business and Management. I reckon an hour and 10/15 mins into city centre as well a 2 or 3 mins bus ride to Aungier.

Im very worried about that. If its really bad the parents might spring for accommodation in dublin in semester 2.

Are you doing Architecture in DIT? What year are you in now? Any Tips/advice? Anything I should start to do on day one?

I'm a student myself in dublin and i get the train,it's not too bad, I got the bus for a few months last year, absolutely hated it so switched to the train.Anyone getting the train do not rely on the 8.00/8.22 enterprise to get you in for a 9 lecture,it's always delayed, the train before might be a better option just to give you a bit of time!

I've been commuting for 3 years, and I was studying Product Design (which is just as intensive as architecture). I'm going to do it again this year.

Why? I was staying over in Vancouver this summer and the commute to work took me 4 hours a day. And that's excluding 30 minutes a day of waiting for the bus from work, as I was almost in the middle of nowhere. Some people had it even worse.

When it comes to DIT to Dundalk commute, it's not too bad. When I was getting the 20:30 bus home (Matthews Coaches), the journey took me 1 hour and 10 minutes. If you get used to it, you can do some college work on the bus - get a plastic clipboard, attach an A4 sketchbook and sketch on the bus!

One of the things that you should learn when coming over to DIT is try to make decisions quicker, especially if you're studying architecture or design or engineering. Think faster and work more efficiently. Then you'll get a decent balance between sleep and college work and you'll also be able to commute. Also, be engaged in your studies continuously. Then you won't need to spend a lot of time on assignments or studying for exams.

I suppose when you have to do something you just do it, I'm glad I don't have to though.
