Quick question - localised flooding/big puddles

Hi - I have my driving test tomorrow morning in Finglas and have been out practicing tonight and noticed that there were a few places around the residential estates there where there were a few very big puddles/blocked drains on the roads.

What would the examiner expect in this situation, I was avoiding them if possible and driving through them very slowly if not. Would that be the correct approach or should you just drive through them slowly? There seems to be such a fine line between maintaining progress and reacting to hazards that I'm just not sure what they want...

    Thanks.

Avoid them if you can do so safely but make sure you make proper obs first. If you can't avoid them, as you said, slow right down and proceed. Bear in mind there may be large potholes or even uncovered drains.
    Also, avoid splashing pedestrians.

Yeah, fairly sure you'll fail if you splash someone.

    Good luck! :)

drive pretty slow through them to avoid aquaplaning would be the first but also pump on your brakes as well to prevent water from getting into the brakes if the water is deepish... that's what I've always been taught to do but not sure how relevant it is to your particular car

best of luck and pity about the bad luck with the weather
