Contact Lenses without having to do specific test...

    Does anybody know if the likes of Specsavers or Vision Express will supply you with contact lenses for a prescription from another optician? or where can I get contact lenses to suit my prescription over the counter? I'm stuck for time, so I need them by Friday, Getting Married :D. Thanks

    Once you have a valid prescription anywhere can supply you with the contact lenses, the only problem is if you have a complicated prescription and they might not have the lenses in stock. In Ireland you legally need a valid prescription to be supplied with contacts

    Be sure you know the brand of lens that you like to wear. Some of the opticians use an own-brand that may be poorer quality that the one you are used to. They say they are cheaper but they never tell you that they use very old technology.

    Most places keep a bank of trial lenses for teaching purposes. The optician if they don't know you will want to see you fit and remove a lens and to check the fit against your eye. They will also need a current prescription. This can be faxed over to them from your regular shop with your consent. Expect a fee for fitting as you will require a small amount of chair time.
