Decisions decisions, half or lsr???

    Have just ran Dingle half which i broke a goal time of sub 1:40, 1:33:59 achieved (sorry for patting myself on the back:p). Have entered the dublin half but just started thinking would it be more beneficial to skip it and do a lsr in prep for the DCM. I know could do few extra miles as cool down but this where i always lose disipline and there very good chance wouldn't do them extra miles. Dont really know what to do :confused:

    Do the extra miles before the half instead

    As per above, do a long warm up before the half at easy pace and then run the half at target marathon pace and use the run to get used to taking gels and drinks at race pace and get a feeling for what that pace feels like in a race scenario. You'll end up with a quality LSR.

    Agree totally with the other replies. Now your in it you might as well use your entry, have a few very easy warm up miles and make sure they end just before the race starts and enjoy the race at marathon pace. Should be a big crowd so it'll give you good practice for the marathon start.

    thanks for all the replies, all make sense, was falling into the trap of every race being a pb attempt, will get up there early and get few miles in first, will be good day out
