So I was thinking today, I get my morning coffee from West Coast Coffee every morning and to me it tastes brilliant and is a nice hit for the morning and the staff are always nice, been going to them since the late nintys. Now in the afternoon for my break the West coast coffee place is closed by 3.30 so i have to go to the Insomnia on talbot st in the spar. Now the thing i have aggenst Insomnia is I find there coffee extreamly hot and bitter and when i ask the staff not to make it too hot nicely they seem to turn it into a capachino with feck all milk but extreamly hot coffee, I have been going to Insomnia for a good few years as its the next best thing to a coffee shop near me from work for a hit lol.

I guess i am asking, is Insomnia for people who dont know coffee and which coffee place do you like out of the two?

    West coast or Insomnia?

Independent coffee shops are my first choice, tbh. Provided the coffee is good.

I don't drink coffee. Funnily enough I can cope fine without it.

    No button for "Other"?

Around that part of town, the best coffee is 3FE on Middle Abbey St. Down toward the docks, Coffee Angels. Across the river, Il Caffe di Napoli. Mmmm... :D

Insomnia can be a cult for some people and some other absolutely despise it. I have spoken to a lot of Coffee shop owner who cannot stand Insomnia but with most it boils down to Jealousy of their success.

    Anyway.

Insomnia use double shots in their coffee which can make it nice and strong. More importantly there is 2% of robusta in their roasts.

Once roasted, canephora(Robusta) tends to deliver a distinctive earthy flavour, usually with more bitterness than arabica. This powerful flavour can be desirable in a blend to give it perceived "strength" and "finish", noticeably in Italian coffee culture.

More importantly it's always burnt and tatses it. I find it undrinkable.

    Sumatra,Peru ,Ethiopia Sidamo and India

It is also Fairtrade and 100% organic and it is working towards being Rainforest Alliance also.

As mentioned elsewhere in this forum there is also 2% Robusta added for that kick.

It is roasted to **** though in all fairness.

    God help that Sidamo.

8 degrees are added too... for that extra aftertaste.

That's what Insomnia wanted so that's what they get.

Where are all the West Coast Coffee houses in Dublin?

There used to be one on Anne St (I think?) but it's closed now.
