Juvenile Gannet (was - help with bird identification)

    can anyone help me idenify this bird, I thought it was an arctic skua at first but I think it's too big (bigger than a gannet) it was diving for fish from a height of 15-20 ft. thanks. Wazzo

    Yes, its a juvenile gannet, probably 2-3 years old.

    That did occur to me at first, but I convinced myself otherwise as it was bigger than adult gannets in the area and because it was only diving from 15-20 feet as opposed to 50+feet for the adults.
