Ok i'll try keep this as short as possible.

I'm a 21 year old male, just finished a Level 5 Fetac course last year. Anyways i applied for an Level 8 course down in Carlow IT this year which i got and registration is 1500 euro.

Now my parents have been split for the last few years and i was talking to my Dad who offered to pay half of the registration and i would have to ask my mother for the other half. My mother won't pay the other half unfortunately :(

So in other words i am now going to be a bum for the next year or 2 and am very afraid my life will go from bad to worse. I'm unable to find a job and i doubt i would be entitled to anything from the dole because of my fathers, mothers and step fathers income. But i'm going to go into the social welfare office 2moro anyways and talk to them anyways.

Regardless of the dole, i'm now afraid my life will come to a complete halt, i'm afraid i will not want to go back and get a degree in a year or so's time.

Am in a very bad place at the moment, i don't feel like living as i have nothing to look forward to.

    Thanks for listening.

I'm sorry that I don't have any advice to give on the course front but just didn't want to leave your post unanswered. Is there some kind of back to education grant you can avail of? Go and have your chat and see how it goes. I know you don't think the future looks good right now but things are always changing. Good luck and I typed this on my iPod you don't know how long that takes ;-)

If you explained your situation to your father could he offer you financial aid?
Have you considered a student loan? If I were you I wouldn't give up just yet, You've clearly worked hard to get your course. Contact your students union and see if they can offer you some helpful helpful.

Have you looked into the student assistance fund?

    Best of luck OP.
