What do you reckon is cheap insurance ?
Should have no bother finding a good one for €1500, especially if you are flexible on year and are willing to drive a 4 or 5 door.

Do you want people to trawl donedeal.ie or what for you ?

Don't think youll get insurance that cheap unfortunately. maybe consider going on someones leses policy as a named driver?

also, why a peugeot 306? IMO, nasty horrible little car.

I failed to say that it wouldn't be in my own name. so that means i would only be named driver.

Ah touché! I was working from my own experience. Can't get under a grand at 19, with one year ncb.

EDIT: Mitsubishi Colt is a nice easy car to run.

I had a 306 Meridian as a first car and loved it. I was 18 and my insurance was €1,200 - which wasn't too bad. The 00/01 cars looked alot better than previous models, it was towards the end of the run and they got alot of the bits and pieces that had previously been kept for the GTi-6 model.

It was a good first car as far as they go in my opinion!

Sure isn't that all the better. Any wee bangs or anything you might have won't bother you too much. As long as its runs smooth mechanically your set.

you should probably drive some horrible cretin of a car for the first few months. The chances of you crashing are quite high when your learning. be a shame to put big dents in a good car. you wouldn't lose any money on depreciation either.

    Here are some bad examples........

I thought it was a nice car to drive - easily better than the fiesta of that era.

And as far as nasty horrible little cars go, I think you'd be pushed to find one more horrible than the polo of that era - no-one does depressing cars quite like VW!

I have never driven the Citroen so cant say how it drives but i have driven a few polos they were pap.

    1-0 Citroen

Mileage is quite a bit higher on the Seat so unless FSH comes into it i'd say there's another one for Citroen

    2-0 Citroen

Reliability would make you automatically look at the Seat (consider mileage to though

    2-1 Citroen

The cordoba should be a good bit faster depending on 8valve Vs 16 valve engine. If its the 16 valve it will rev much higher and more power.

    2-2 Draw

Looks wise I think the Citroen wins no matter what and especially if its the new shape model that came in around that time (I may be wrong)

    3-2 Citroen

For me I would probably go with the Xsara. Theres no competition if its the newer model or if the cordoba only has the less powerful engine. The citroen will be slow regardless though.....
