Can anyone recommend a horse riding centre with lessons and ride-outs that is friendly and good fun, with high standards preferably on the northside of Dublin?

I seem to remember a thread on this a while back, I'll have a route around and see if I can find it, but from what I remember Ashtown, Pelletstown, Thornton Park and Kilronan were all mentioned.

I can't comment on them as I've not been to any of them, but it may give you a starting point to move from there.

Ok... Just found the threads, so you can see people's comments on them:

You could also have a look at the 'contact details' thread, which may mention some other options:

    Hey all,

Sorry for muscling in on your thread, James, hopefully any info given will benefit you too though!

I've also been looking through the contact details for a new yard and was wondering if anyone currently riding or stabling at any of the north Dublin yards would offer some opinions-publicly or privately.
I think I've narrowed it down to Kilronan or Thornton Park, but would consider anywhere.

I'm looking for somewhere with decent lessons for an experienced adult rider who has been just doing the odd hack for the last couple of years but would like to get back to riding regularly. I'd like a friendly yard where I could make horsey contacts again, and would have the opportunity to start competing a little. I'd also like a yard with a good number of horses on livery as I would ultimately love to get involved in a horse share.

If anyone could help me decide between these 2 yards I'd really appreciate it. I have transport so location isn't a problem.

    Regards,
    Marianne.

I asked James to post the question for me and as a result of some of the feedback I went out last night to have a look at The Paddocks Equestrian Centre in Stepaside.

I know it's not on the northside (which would be preferable for me) but it looks very promising. The people there were friendly and the place seems well kept. You can get an outline of it on their website:

Any other suggestions or comments welcome.

The Paddocks looks nice, I'd imagine you could avail of some really lovely ride-outs there.
I think for me, it's a bit too far southside, so I might just pop out to Kilronan and Thornton Park for a chat with the instructors/yard managers and decide from there.
    Good luck to you!
    M.

Kilronan didn't suit me and I haven't tried Thornton Park but I hope you find somewhere that suits you Marianne.

Any further feedback, comments or suggestions are welcome regarding good quality instruction plus ride-outs with a friendly and fun atmosphere.
