Well if looks like ps3 and iPhone owners can rejoice as the new psgroove iphone port is almost complete.

In case you didn't know this is going to spark off a ps3 based jailbreaking community which will see apps from back up manager to ports of boxee and xbmc, the psgroove port to iPhone will allow us to use all these programs without having to buy an expensive dongle, which incidentaly are out of stock everywhere.

here is musclenerds tweet to prove it

    MuscleNerd
The nerdy video at http://is.gd/eW1RP means an Apple-mediated JB of PS3 (via psgroove) is close. (Sony please sue Apple!)

Am I correct in thinking this will allow us to jailbreak the PS3 via the iPhone?

    Yes....
You'd probably want a spare ps3 tho if you value your PSN,

    So tempting but...

Nintendo Wii has a similar back up program which is undetectable, this hack requires your iPhone to be plugged in so does not alter the firmware, it simple exploits buffer overflow exception holes that have been left in the firmware, this is undetectable.

Ill mention too, that all the private torrent sites I am a member of are starting to flood with ps3 games.

true, but you can change your dns so it doesn't ask you for the update.

why are you being so negative about this hack?

playing online would be a much bigger advantage to most than a jailbreak

You will still be able to play online,

Just like you can play online with the psp, wii.

For obvious reasons I'm keeping a close eye on this and the only people who are claiming that sony is blocking console don't have a clue what they are talking about.

This exploit uses a packet injection hack (Similar to ultrasn0w), so the minute you restart your console its gone.
