Quick question, what is the protocol on sending thank you letters for wedding presents received on the day? just wondering is it acceptable to send them after the honeymoon ( 5 weeks after wedding)or do people send them at all now?. A frined of mine got married end of June and she mentioned that people normally don't expect thank you letters for a few months - anyway i keep hearing different answers from just after honeymoon to 4-5 months.. so confusing as i know there can be some misunderstandings and attendess of wedding can get insulted if they don't get thank you letters within a certain timeframe

so thats why i am asking you, if anyone here has recently got married, when did you send out thank you letters

After the Honeymoon would be the normal thing in my experience no matter how long the honeymoon is.

I hope you had a great day.:)

Usually between 3-6 months after the wedding, we're just getting our photographers CD now with the professional photos, and we're using some of those to design a personalised card, and it's 2 months since the wedding. I will hopefully have them out in the next month or so.

Any later than 6 months, and I'd be wondering if I was getting one at all, and I think it's bad manners not to send a thank you card after the effort made by guests to attend.

So you should be safe enough with 5 weeks :)

Im just a week back off my honeymoon and I have no intention of going near the thankyou's yet. This is the 'relax' time and the 'settling' back in time so enjoy it! Its usually 4 to 6 months after. I intend to send around the 4th month so maybe just after christmas or just before.

U.S. sites say that the cards should be out no later than 2 weeks after returning from honeymoon, but I think that's a load of my arse.

Anything more than a year is completely taking the piss and 6 months is probably about the limit before people starting thinking "WTF".

For us, it just kept getting stuck on the long finger. We got stuck into it one night about 2 month after the wedding, sent out about 60% of the cards, but then didn't get around to the rest of them for another 3 months!

Our first "group" of cards coincided perfectly with Xmas, so we sent out the thank you's within our Christmas cards.
