    Hi,
Seen some nice Laminate flooring that I plan on putting into the 3 bedrooms .
My only concern is the noise (downstairs) as at the moment there is carpet down .

Can i purchase a noise barrier to put down before the laminate flooring ? (or) could i use the carpet underlay ?

Dont know if im in the right forum , I did search for a carpentry forum but had no joy ?
Mods feel free to move .

    Ta
    M.

when getting your laminate flooring ask for an accoustic underlay rather than the foam underlay. it will kill the noise from walking and provide a small degree of insulation as it also has a foil back. its dearer but a good job. thicker insulations are being used now a days but if its not a new build u wont b able 2 use it as it would cause problems at the stairs door heights and floor heights. i would recomend not using cheap laminate floors. there are really good ones out der and they are a little thicker. dont use mouldings or base shoes 2 cover da expansion gap (min 10 mm) it looks amatuerish take off skirtings and re fit scribing 2 the floor if ders humps or hollows or replace da skirting altogether. cut flooring under door frames arcitraves newel posts to get a professional look cover any other gaps with a flooring profile 2 suit and remove saddle boards if u have dem and re fit.

All good and well to say take off/replace sb's

If they are stuck onto plaster board walls then unless the OP is v lucky he will have a bigger problem.
