    I have an LG 47LG5000 TV with a MPEG2 tuner. Can I upgrade the firmware by usb to upgrade this MPEG4?

    Thanks John Mac, I presume the issue is its hardware the does the conversion and not software.

    Yes. TVs and setboxes use dedicated hardware. The "CPU" is only for User Interface.

    You need a Saorview Set-box.
