While not a cut, Broncos traded Alponso Smith to Lions for TE Dan Gronkowski. Pretty horrible for the broncos, they drafted this guy in the second round last year after trading their 2010 1st round pick to the seahawks. Dan Gronkowski was draft with the 2nd last pick of the 2009 draft. Many will see this as the first of many McDaniels draft cock ups...

Most notable cut there for me is JP Losman, not because I think he is any good but because that leaves them with Whitehurst and a very injury prone backup in Matt Hasselbeck which suggest to me that they will make a move for Matt Leinart or some other QB.

On what planet is Hasselbeck going to be Whitehurst's back-up this season? Had they not relatively invested so much in him he might well have started the season third on the depth chart. His pass completion in the pre-season was barely over 50% and he threw a 4-4 TD-INT split which is mixed at best in anyone's eyes. If they go for Leinart it'll be seen as a lack of faith in Whitehurst, not Hasselbeck.

Some of those cuts are really significant and surprising:

    Troy Smith
    Anthony Becht
    Pat White
    Brandon McDonald
    Jacques Reeves
    Chris Simms

I mean those guys aren't bums, they've either started to a solid level or been first half draft picks / college stars.

Two Heisman winning QB's cut. That award is starting to seriously look like a poisoned chalice.

Surprised to see Raheem Brock cut. A very useful player for the Colts, maybe he didn't fit Tennessee's system. Also surprised to see the Vikes cut Walker, who has played with favre before, given their troubles at WR.

Troy Smith, Heisman winning QB for the Ravens cut

It wasn't that much of a shock, Ravens have Flacco and Bulger on the roster.
Sad to see him go though and have no doubt he'll get picked up somewhere

Pat White at Miami realy was a reach with a 2nd round pick last year, now cut

Troy Smith for me wasn't a big surprise either. I never felt he would ever make it in the Pros. Whatever about Bradford or even Tebow making it Smith for me wouldn't have progressed from College player to pro and I guess over the last few years the Ravens agree.

As for White the fad of the Wildcat is dying out so there is no need for White as a QB. He would have been better off doing an Edelmen and becoming a WR.

I'm looking at all of these players (Namely Troy Smith, Juquain Iglesias, Anthony Becht, and about twenty others) who would be a VAST improvement at each position for the Bills!! they should seriously go out and sign ALL of these guys like!! the only place they're solid at is RB and FS ...think the Bills need another two months to try get their team together!! =D

Crable makes the Patriots practice squad. Guy must have talent if BB is keeping him around for another year.

I don't know if Ryan Moats is carrying and injury or something but for me anyways he would be an upgrade on Lawfirm and possibly Morris, I'd like to see the Patriots pick him up.

The eagles cut demps ? So that leaves ellis hobbs as the only other kick returner. And three safeties and two rookies.

Patriots just released Tyrone McKenzie, I'm stunned by this.

What a stange decision. We've seen barely anything of him in a Patriots jersey, so I can only assume that the injury he suffered last year doesn't look like fully healing or something.

    Jaguars cuts announced....

S Gerald Alexander, LB Alvin Bowen, DT Atiyyah Ellison, G Kynan Forney, LB Tony Gilbert, LB Teddy Lehman, DL Jeremy Navarre, RB Kolby Smith, CB Scott Starks, TE Ernest Wilford, WR Troy Williamson and LB Rod Wilson all cut

DT Walter Curry, WR Clarence Denmark, WR John Matthews, OT Daniel Baldridge, TE Mike Caussin, QB Trevor Harris, RB Chad Kackert, DT Ko Quaye and C Bradley Vierling all waived!

and lastly S Reggie Nelson traded to the Bengals for CB David Jones and undisclosed draft pick.

glad to see the back of Nelson. he was nothing but useless last season and didnt show enough during preseason to deserve to stay. thought Alexander might have been kept with them trading Nelson but ah well... kinda sad to see Troy Williamson go, but once again never lived up to his potential. very annoyed to see them release John Matthews! easily our best player throughout the preseason and really deserved a roster spot! 8 catches for 83 yds and 2 TDs really deserved to be kept!
