Bruce Campbell Appreciation Thread!

So, I went back and watched Army Of Darkness recently and though it's not on par with the other 2 I still enjoyed it. Sometimes I forget how influential the 3rd film was in pop culture, especially in terms of gaming in the 90's. Many of the big games like Doom & Duke Nukem 3D take their inspiration from this movie (As is proven by the game-developers as well as the quotes Duke says and the poster for the game)

What I always enjoyed about those movies on DVD was the commentary from Bruce and Sam Raimi which are pretty damn funny as well as insightful to the film-making process. You can look 'em up on YouTube if you do a half-arsed search ;)

Anywho, considering around the web there's a universal love for Bruce for his sarcasm, wit and dedication to independant cinema I thought I trail YouTube to find some interviews / Q&A sessions from him which are pretty damn awesome. The guy really holds up to the image fans have created of him, especially since he's starred in some really dire movies. Fans continously ask him about the Evil Dead movies (To which he sarcastically replies "Gee, never heard that question before..............let me think :D) but he never gets annoyed over it as he knows that's his legacy and acknowledges it as what got him to where he is today.

So, here's some fantastic videos of him describing his foray into funding films, ripping the piss out of the audience and his stories of filming 2 films in Bulgaria with the same Bulgarian cast in both of them.

This is 44 minutes long but it is definitely worth the watch, especially his closing tirade of abuse of "Fùck Hollywood" and supporting independant films:

    Prank calling someone's mother :pac:

On why Congo was made (He dismisses the film as a pile of crap!)

Hail to the king, baby :D

one of the most under-appreciated actors, a god in the Evil Dead series, i loved him in Maniac Cop (1988) and Bubba Ho-Tep (2002).

I loved the scene where Bruce plays the Surgeon General in Escape From L.A. (1996):

I didn't watch many of the videos above, but I am a big fan.

I have a dog-eared copy of his autobiography "If Chins could Kill" subtitled - "Confessions of a B-Movie Actor" that I read every so often.

If you haven't read it, it will be a fresh view on Hollywood for you.

Reanimated Dead(Bruce Campbell X Sam Raimi) = Success. (I call this the Boomstick Theorem)

As said, the combination of those two talented individuals is a formula for win. I think Sir Campbell oozes charisma at his best, one actor who has real presence on screen. Unfortunately, My Name Is Bruce left a sour taste in my mouth (I appreciate the intention, but the delivery is neither funny, witty or biting enough). But you just have to rewatch the Evil Dead films to see the man in the role he was born to play.

The man is king. Brisco County Jr wasn't mentioned yet, great show in its own right.

Bruce Campbell, someone who actually deserves a cult following.

I really wish he was in more movies. My Name is Bruce was pretty poor though, but evil dead trilogy and bubba ho-tep he was outstanding, not only was bubba ho-tep hilarious he actually did some real serious acting in it too, turning elvis into an old man full of regret trying to make amends rather than the parody performance everyone expected.

On a side note,I have to say that Army of Darkness poster is probably my favourite movie poster of all time.

    Bruce is GOD!!!!

    Lurve him :)

I also bought his "If Chins Could Kill" book only half way through it. Really want to watch Evil Dead again just to try and pick out the scenes he discusses in the book.
    Awesome book....go buy it!

He pops up in lots of films. Seen him in a kids superhero film called Sky High, he played the cranky gym teacher called Mr. Boomer.

:eek::eek::eek: Wait a minute......just thinking....wonder did he pick the name Boomer as a connection to Boomstick!!! :pac:

Ah, I remember watching Reboot back in the day on a shoddy transmission of ITV but I definitely don't remember this Thriller / Evil Dead bit. I love how they included the cabin, tape recorder, the deer head, and Ash's seemingly diverse dialogue of "Groovy" :pac:
