Has Blairs visit moved on the Junkies from Dublin city centre?

Ok, Blair visits our Fair city today.

In the last week, the Garda has made a heavy presence moving on junkies from the city centre. Mr Blevin from Sky News has made live broadcasts from the quays safely of course :)

So my question is, has a dignitary(love him or hate him) made the city safer for a change?

    Mods.

We've a junkie mega thread running in the DCF.

Don't move this one over, it'll just be locked or deleted.

    Thanks.

    No.
If the junkies can't hang around there anymore then they will go elsewhere.
I don't live in Dublin & I have this figured out.

No, they would have just moved elsewhere.

What positive impact could moving junkies on have? From my experience the centre of Dubin is fairly safe even with junkies. But I would not like to meet some of those people down quieter streets.

Buttt..(to ye all)...the junkies have been moved elsewhere all of a sudden. Nothing was done for years.

    Now why is that?

Call me a conspiracist, the heavy Garda presence in Dublin 1 in the last week in just a co-incidence?

    Ah come on!

Yeah, it used to be a real fukking war zone before this week. I tried to head into the city centre last week to buy a set of guitar strings and I was raped 12 times and stabbed twice in the face with a syringe. It's a bloody disgrace Joe.

So why were they moved all of a sudden?

I think Blairs first book signing(outside the UK) had an affect surely?

The event was plastered all over Sky and BBC!!

Seriously, has anyone noticed the co-incidence?

On lunchtime news on Sky today, we had their reporter giving an in depth analysis straight from Bachelors Walk to millions of British viewers. Now before this week, that stretch was plastered with junkies mingling with uninformed tourists.
The message is to give a positive image of the city to outsiders for those few moments. So yeh, the junkies will be back soon as the focus on the city to the outside world is gone.

    Your more than likely right.
Was up there on the "walk" last week and the junkies were there then in the morning beside the little coffee outlets.

Its all a PR game for some.
Next week/month, back to the same old, same old...
