I'm an international masters student doing a semester at Maynooth. I was wondering if any locals could tell me where be best to live? I've been considering living in Lucan and commuting in? How long would that take on public transport? And is there any public transport? I work for TGI fridays so will either work in the St. Stephens Green store or the Blanchardstown store, so I need somewhere where I can commute to them too. Also I have a budget of about 300 euros for a room per month. Thanks to anyone who can offer some advice.:)

Lucan is about 30mins on the 66 bus, but usually it's best to leave 1 hour before the lecture as the time tables are unreliable, it usually passes through the village going towards Maynooth just after the hour, It's a nice enough place but you really feel disconnected from Maynooth which may not be ideal for an international student, I'd advise you to stay near to the University where all the action is!
The 25a goes from Superquinn Lucan into the city and typically takes 40-50 mins depending on time of day and where you get on. Also the 151 goes from Adamstown and takes around 40 mins also, the 239 goes from Liffey Valley to Blanchardstown shopping centre and passes through Lucan on the Newcastle road and then through the village, I'm not sure how long it takes as I haven't taken it in years.
Hope this is of some help!

If you have to work in TGI Blanchardstown, you can get the train from Maynooth to Coolmine (20 mins), then walk from the train station to TGI Fridays in the shopping centre. This takes a further 20 mins.

I'm not sure of the opening times of TGI Fridays, but remember that the train / buses stop running at 11.30pm approx. This could pose problems if your working late at TGIs.

Although from Thursday through Saturday (I think), there's later 'nitelink' buses that run throughout the night. I think there's one going out to Maynooth. Not one hundred percent sure though.

When you arrive, be sure to get your student travelcard from the Students' Union office (north campus) in order to be able to buy disounted student travel tickets!

    Enjoy your stay

There's no nitelink linking Blanch and Maynooth and the nitelink from the city centre only operates on Friday and Saturday.

By the way, I'm also a intenational student and ... I'd like to know if there's the possibility to take some buses to/from Dublin during the weekend at night.

    Thx :D

Not quite true, the USI / Maynooth SU NiteRider will be running mid-week from town to maynooth.
