Mens flared jeans....help

For many years I've been wearing jeans by cinch, outrage, kingpin and blend to name a few.

Over the last 2 years tho, for what ever reason, they all appear to have gone 'straight' legged, some have even gone the skinny Jean direction!

I'm struggling to find jeans I like!

If anyone could point me in the direction of some newer labels selling similar jeans, it'd be a great help.

Just spend a day in Arnotts and try on loads of jeans

Stickin to a brand for the sake of the name is a bit silly

Jack & Jones flared jeans, sorted. apparantly straight leg is in, not my style, j&j only supply ireland with flared jeans (or so i heard)

I assumed that the OP stuck to these brands for the styles of jeans they produced, flared in this case, as opposed to the name.

I suggest try TK Maxx and you might come across a brand that does flared jeans. My lovely jean has nice ones but I looked them up and they seem to cater for females only.

For flared jeans Wild Child in Temple Bar is definitely worth a look.

    Flares or boot cut?

@unregged, to be honest, the brand doesn't bother me, as long as they look good. I only mentioned the above labels to give people a reference of what I like.

@08mor, yeah I've quite a few pairs of J&J, but they are all a bit 'the same' just a slightly different wash.

@fillefatale, bang on the money with reference to style.

I've tried tx maxx when ever I'm there, and there's just nothing I seem to like.
I'm gonna be in Dublin for a weekend before Christmas(I'm from Waterford) so I'll give that wild cherry place a look, thanks!

@Harry, not flares as in the 70's bell bottom, but more along the lines of a strong boot cut, when worn a bit baggy the opening would tend to cover the shoe as far as the laces!

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I know the feeling, im in the same boat.

What makes it worse is that im in Australia, so its 10 times more difficult to find nice jeans over here.
Ill get into less flared stuff eventually, but its taking time!

I just never have liked non flared jeans!

Even the boot cut jeans around now as becoming very skinny looking!

I've recenty found a few pairs of energie jeans, but at €150 a pair, rather pricey!

    Have you tried Levi 512s?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 3,793 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeloe

I haven't, mainly for the reason that any levi's a find are the ghastly 501's!!

I'll have a bit of a better look the next time I'm in Waterford city!

    Thanks for the reply!

I don't think 501s are ghastly tbh, just need to be worn properly. Maybe have a look online on littlewoods etc?

Try Gas Northwoodstock jeans, available in Genius.
    Very good quality and bootcut/flare.

Road Jeans might be a good option - better off buying online roadjeans.com

Jack Jones do the best Flared jeans in IRE imo.

Go into a store and ask to view their "Vice" range.

Very good washing and hard wearing jeans

My boyfriend has the same problem, Road are ok but they make them so ridiculously long that by the time you have them taken up the flare is nearly lost altogether! The best cut we have found are Pop (Swedish I think) that do super retro flares and are much cooler than anything by levis or the likes. My fella has their brown cords and denim ones and they are super fly! He gets his one of the vintage shops in Cork, not sure where else would stock them.

These were the only links I found off hand: http://www.partypants.co.uk/pages/denim-jean-flares-bellbottoms.htm

I used to get my flares in Flip. They had their own brand of them I think. Do they still do them?

Try diesel zaf or koffha ,zathan

Oh sorry the jeans I mentioned are more of a boot cut.

The other option is wearing girls flares, my boyfriend has a good few pairs of girls flares like Sponge and Nope that look great on him, although he is a scrawny little f*cker. You need to wear them low on the hips to leave some ball room though.

i know resurecting old threads is very much frowned upon but i thought this would be the easiest and best way to find out

has anyone found an answer to this conondrum???

im on the same boat as the op and a couple other. i do love the flair/boot cuts.

i just like the style. i prefer the opening to cover the laces and down to the sole of the shoe. i cant even wear slacks because it just doesnt feel right. its too uncomfy. its made my gold life a living hell. i need to find proper jeans or pantrs or slacks that are boot cut or flaired

On the topic of mens flares, these are the best runners of all time for wearing with flares..

    adidas-Samba-47-314730261204-zoom-2.jpeg

classic 70s style Adidas Sambas, I literally go weak at the knees for a boy in Sambas and a nice pair of flares :o

Sambas are nice but very narrow . Adidas Superstars all the way , must have 30+ pairs at the moment . Very comfortable too :)

Ha deadly, the superstars are great in their own right (with baggy pants esp) but I think the narrower styles work best with flares. Keeps the whole seventies thang goin :D

Ya I'd agree with you hence I'm a baggy jeans guy (when I can get them) just back from NY so got another 6 pairs of adidas s'stars , to be honest though only got two pairs of jeans , one some "bootcut" levis527 that are narrow enough on the thigh and a pair of Hilfiger bootcut that aren't too bad just seem a bit long for length that they are supposed to be .

Gotta love the retro stuff . Absolute demon for adidas old skool tracksuit tops too :)

    Ironic post I know :)

But I've just spent the last 2 hours trawling the net to find a decent pair of boot-cut/slightly flared jeans. The Diesel Zafs with the 21.5" and 22" leg openings were my all time favourites they looked more boot cut than full on flare/bell bottom but unfortunately inventories for new pairs are all depleted at this stage. :(

Does anyone know of any similar cuts around today?

That Energie pair on play look nice enough, a bit too much flare for my liking, I've fire off a mail asking about the leg opening. There may be hope yet.
