I want to join a tri club. I live northside Dublin and work southside and can easily get to Phoenix Park if needed. I want a club with good swim coaching, cycle rides for moderate cyclists and a good social scene. A club that does foreign training trips would be great, one not too big or small, and friendly to newcomers.

Suggestions? I don't mind you touting your own club if you're honest about it!

hi pc 11 - joining a club is a good idea.

Probably the two main options location wise for you would be 3d and Piranha. I am in 3d and would certainly recommend it - our swimming is in Belvedere college, running is in the Park and group cycles generally leave from the Park. The club has a good mix of abilities, from beginners up to Kona qualifiers and has good coaching in all 3 disciplines. At this time of the year most people will soon be winding down from the racing season and moving over to the winter training schedule which will include intermediate level bike training rides on sunday mornings- keep an eye on the website for details http://www.3dtri.com

We dont as yet do an organised overseas trip but we have run a very succesful training weekend in Courttown for the past two years, including cycling there and back. There is a good social scene - but not too good, or you wont get out of bed and onto the bike in the am;)

Piranha do their swimming in westwood in clontarf & run an overseas trip as far as i know and would also be a good option for you. If i was you i would lean towards whichever is more convenient for you in terms of training locations - I know myself if i find getting to a session is hassle, the chances are I wont stick with it :)
