Ireland is playing Armenia today in soccer.

Armenia's population is 3.3mn.....roughly the same as ours.

    Armenia's GDP is $16bn.......

.....which is about HALF of the $32.5bn dollars the Irish state has committed to putting into Anglo Irish Bank so far.

Sorry for dramatic use of capital letters; just had to share.

I went there on my holidays two years ago. The olympics were on - they just love the Greco-Roman wrestling. They hate the Turks and the Azeris. They like the Russians and Iranians. As you get nearer the iranian border you see people selling "coca-cola" in bottles to truck drivers returning to iran. Its actually alcholol. Armenians live all over the place, we met people from Iran, the usa, Lebanon and cyprus. The Lebanese armenian lady originally lived in iran and said it was a lovely place to live in. The American girls were going to iran after armenia as their ancestors had fled Turkey after the genocide to meet her aunts. Its a very interesting country and very very safe. The by far scariest plane landing I have ever experienced though. The winds really whip up at night.

The russians also invaded the neighbouring country of Georgia when I was there as well.
