Q about going on the pill

Hi, not really looking for any medical advice just asking this question because I'm not sure what to expect. I'm looking to go on the pill soon as my periods are very heavy, irregular and painful. At my local GP there is a doctor and a nurse. Would I have to see the doctor because it's my first time to go on the pill or can the nurse give me the prescription? Just not really sure what to say on the phone when I'm booking an appointment! Thanks :-)

You need to get a doctors appointment to get a prescription. You don't need to mention what the appointment is for when you get one - it's just between you and the doctor.

Ring up and say you need an appointment with the doctor. No need for anymore info.

I went on the pill for the same reason as you, worked out very well. But yeah you need to ask a doctor, theres lots of things like age/smoking/blood pressure/weight that affects whether you can take it.
