Simple question really. Which one is better to get?

Don't get the Go. Alot of games are getting physical release only and thus makes it hard to play games you'd like on your PSP GO.

    stick with the 3000

I never liked the psp go, psp 3000 is way better,at least with psp 3000 you can still slap a UMD in it and your not limited by a 16gb hard drive like with psp go

3000 has a bigger screen, easier to hold, and you can get games cheap on UMD which you can't do with the Go

Ya definitly the 3000. Games on the PSN are way over-priced and you can't trade or sell them later because it's digital unlike the 3000.

Cheers lads. I've got a 3000 already but I was thinking of upgrading to a Go but I reckon I'll steer clear.

The Go looks impressive but a download only handheld seems like an awful idea.

Problems with the Go, as mentioned, are mostly the reliance on PSN. Firstly, you pay more than is probably reasonable for the console, only to be shafted when buying games too (a new game, if it's released at all on PSN, would usually set you back a fiver, tenner or - in the case of Peace Walker - even more when you download it due to the lack of competition). In theory, downloads should be cheaper, with fewer overheads: so you really have to wonder why they are so overpriced. That said, pick up a good memory card - when there are sales and things, PSN is a great service, and easy to pick up the odd bargain. But relying on it will usually cost you more money than it's worth. Definitely stick with the 3000.

I might go with the Go (:o) instead, because the "10 free games" deal looks pretty good and I wouldn't be buying a huge collection of games.

PSP 3000 is a whole lot better :D A nice sized screen UMD's are way handier than having to delete from the PSP GO. PSP 3000 games are cheaper as well.

I was looking at that and some of the games are actually rather good but I'm gonna side with the majority here and stick with my 3000.

I'd be pissed off if I bought a Go and then they announced a new PSP at E3 next year or something.

I don't think a PSP Go can have CFW. Which means no cwcheat which means you're screwed in terms of some of the better things (like in Assassin's Creed for the PSP, you can just use cwcheat to unlock things instead of buying a PS3 and a copy of Assassin's Creed 2 for that), UMDs are cheaper BUT it generally takes longer for loading (reading a UMD takes longer than a memory stick (in most cases)). Both can play PSX games that can be bought from the store and both can play them on a HDTV.

But I warn you now, if you get the PSP 3000 and want to play PSX/other games on the TV, make sure you get the proper feckin' cables (not in Gamestop, idiots wouldn't listen to me). Get the ones that are component (or red white, red, blue, green/connect to a HDTV(the exact same thing just a different description).

DO NOT GET THE NORMAL RED/WHITE/YELLOW, ONES THEY WILL NOT PLAY GAMES ON A TV, JUST MUSIC AND VIDEO.

The only advantages to a PSP go that I can see are: 16gb memory and no UMD drive (so yes, technically this has the upside of not needing any UMDs). If you are playing PSX games on the tv, you can use a PS3 controller.

Erm... actually you don't really have the downloadable games as a bonus, you can do with a normal PSP 3000. I will point out that for me, CFW (custom firmware) was a big reason not to get the PSP go.

Oh and I'm not sure how much I'm bending the rules here with this BUT a lot of people might not be aware that if you still have CFW on your psp (it can be done safely (about 99% safe since it doesn't make any permant modifcations) below a certain official FW (think it's... 5.05) then you can still access the PSN store. It just requires some more downloads, nothing illegal TBH and fairly easy to set up.

There has been a homebrew enabler released for PSPgo if you have firmware 6.20. It uses the Patapon 2 demo I think.

UMDs need to die in a fire. Disc based media for portable games are a bad idea. I have a PSP 2000 and a PSPgo, so either I buy games digitally for my PSPgo or I buy the UMD and rip it to the memory stick to play on my 2000 with CFW.

If the PSPgo was cheaper I would recommend it ahead of the 3000 but behind a 2000 (as the 3000, like the PSPgo, only has a homebrew enabler and not true CFW).

If you wanted to use a homebrew on a 3000 or a go it's the same way, in either case if anything goes wrong unlike a 1000 & most 2000 which have as said a full cfw you're fully screwed and it won't be able to be fixed.

It's just as good if not better though. I feel a lot more comfortable knowing that I can't really banjax my PSP 3000 like I could my PSP 1/2000.

Of course, each to their own.

The problem with downloadable only games or using carts like the NDS is the lack of space on carts and you can't resell/get cheaper prices for download only games (since the PSN prices are only by one company, there is no competition.
