    Hello,

I am hoping I might get more accurate advice here than I would from the Garda Immigration Bureau.

    Here's the situation:

My girlfriend is Fijian, came here on a 90 day visitor's permit (cuz they dont require an entry visa, funnily enough!) with the intention to just visit, however, she saw a course that she was interested in. We checked with our local garda immigration office and were told what she needs to do is leave the country and come back in with her letter from the course etc and they will stamp her passport for 5 days, so she will produce all her documentation at her local garda immigration bureau who will then process the student visa.

Now, here's the problem......we want to go to Germany, as I have family there. We applied for a tourist visa (short stay - 5 days) to the German Embassy who have now told us she wont get the tourist visa as she is neither an Irish citizen nor has she got a student visa to be in Ireland. I explained to him the above story and it appears that the information for the GNIB in Dublin contradicts that of what the officers say here in our local immigration office.
My girlfriend will have to go back to Fiji if we cannot go to Germany.

Is anybody able to confirm or shine some light on this for me and to let me know whether this 5 day stamp exists? that allows her to produce her documentation at a local immigration office in Ireland so she can apply for her visa? Her course is paid for already and we have the college letter mentioning she has paid for it and the duration of it.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sad & worried:(

Whether someone is let into Germany is a matter for the Germans. What do Irish people knowe about German visa requirements?

I assume they mean they'll give her an ordinary tourist stamp and where they write her date of departure on it, it'll be +5 days from the day that she enters.

Unfortunately it's not unusual for GNIB and the local immigration officers to give conflicting info.

If it's not possible for her to go to Germany could you not just go to Britain? She will be able to enter as they still do not carry out immigration checks on people arriving from Ireland, but when you fly back she will have to go through Irish immigration same as she would coming back from Germany and she can present her letter there.
