Corrib Village is fine, you can't be expecting luxury in college as you're just not gunna get houses like your own home! There are some houses nicer than others, and some housemates better than others, but you can make the best of what you have. Its great for meeting people, last year the first few nights I don't know if we even went to town, we had a massive party in Corrib where everyone ran around introducing themselves and just having fun, it was great. You'll probably have more free time in first year than any other time and Corrib is so handy to drop into from the college, its nice to just hang about in :)

They come in once a week and just check the fire equipment, they don't go into the bedrooms. They'll have a quick glance into the kitchen and living room, you might get an email saying you're too untidy (it doesn't have to be spotless though), or to take things away from the window (pizza boxes and glass bottles were the ones they used to complain about).

Out of curiosity, how much are they charging for student diggs? I'm living near Eyre Square, wondering how it compares :)

Is there anyway i can find out my room number etc without having to physically go up to galway? an 8 hour round trip is really a bit much just to find out!

If i ring them will they tell me? or will they stand by the fact that i have to check in to find out??

Do you have to find out your room number before you head up? I just went down to reception on the day I moved in and they gave me my keycard and room number. You don't need it before you move in.

nope you need to go up and find out!

i went up yesterday.. its really small but its not too bad. i was just supprised with the key cards for the bedrooms and the kitchen/living room feels a bit like a prison??

People always used to just leave the kitchen and living room doors open. Its safer to have your bedroom locked when you're not there, you're living with complete strangers!
