Iphone contacts - how to back up?

Hi, I have a 3G3 and am thinking of getting a iPhone 4, how do I transfer my contacts from phone to phone? If I sync a new iPhone to itunes, does it not delete all previous iphone info and start from fresh with the new iphone?? Cheers

Ya can sync contacts in iTunes. Click on the iPhone when it's connected and go across the tabs to contacts. Tick the box to sync
It will say something about erasing all contacts but there's an option to add them
Other than that google "iPhone google sync"

sync in itunes and then restore the settings to the new iphone.
