Yep, its a fail. First check the bulb see if its blown. Also if
it isnt give it a bit of a wiggly and see if it lights up. If still no joy
check the fuse(sometimes water gets in and can blow the related fuse)
    Godd luck.

Thanks... does anyone know what that part is called?

Its an Audi A4.. there are 2 light holders left and right of the handle for the boot...someone told me the whole thing would need to be replaced rather that just the light holders/bulb's/fuse

Can't think of the name of the unit. But usually theses parts pop
off with the use of a thin flat screwdriver.

Best bet if your unsure driver to an Audi garage talk to one of there mechanic's it'd probably be a 2minute job for him.

Happened to a friend of mine with he's 08 Ford Fiesta, couldn't figure out how to change the rear bulbs, real awkward part to open.
Ford mechanic popped it in 2 min's.
No charge. Check fuses and bulbs first though :)

Would be a fail but should be no charge for retest since it doesn't require any instruments.
Have you considered LED units to light the rear plate? You'll never change them again.

Dont go near an audi garage anyway, even for a bulb they'll screw ya!!

Local motorfactors should be able to sort ya out and will charge ya about a 5er to fit it. As said above dont stress too much about it before tomorrow as its just a visual retest and is free of charge.

Yeah, was failed on that once, one of those things you never really notice yourself.
Went to a Texaco? with broken bulb and they sold them there.
Had to remove boot lid lining to remove bulb (S40) but was easy job.

You will be able to leave the boot flush and get it in the bumper. Off to the pannel beater you go!!:D
