I have used both Seesmic and Twitter for Android, neither of which I like that much.

I find Seesmic too slow to open and update and twitter for android, takes too long to display user pictures as you are scrolling down.

What alternatives free or paid are there?

I'm quite fond of Pure Messenger myself, it's €1.78 (incl. VAT) on the Market.

I don't have access to the paid market, I am now going to try tweetcaster and twitroyd and see how I go..

I also see Launcherpro has launched a great widget for Twitter today.

Launcherpro is free, though only plus users enjoy the widget,
however you upgrade to plus from within the app (paypal or google checkout, can't remember)

I use seesmic myself, probably cause I use their desktop client.
