    Hello,

I'm not great when it comes to phones to be honest. I need a smart phone in the next few weeks. I mentioned it to someone recently and he said wait for the HTC Evo to come onto the market. Does anyone know when or if the HTC Evo will be released here in Ireland?

Anyone know when or if Meteor will have the Desire back in stock soon? Any other recommendations for Smart phones?

    Thank you

HTC EVO 4G will never come here

    Reasons:
Its 4G which no carrier supports here
Its has CDMA aerial which doesn't pick up our frequency signals over here

Rumors of HTC Desire HD being revealed on the 15th of September which should have similar looks and specs of HTC EVO 4G only a European version and different looks

    HTC Desire

It should be back in stock (probably not all shops) but people already have them

Your other best choice is that area is HTC Legend or Samsung Galaxy

Thanks for your response. Called into Meteor this morning and shop assistant said "they're not making the HTC Desires anymore". I said "are you sure?". She said yes. O2 had 3 in stock but I can't get 02 reception where I live.

Anyway, I'll wait until Sept 15th and if I don't hear anything then I'll go for the Samsung i think. Thanks for your advice

They are. They've just launched in the US on (US Cellular) a few days ago.

I love hearing some of the nonsense that comes out of reps at phone shops

There is an element of truth; they have stopped making the AMOLED screen Desire, and now they are all SLCD, but the supply is very limited and you'd need to pester the shops to get one.

well that's not really an element of truth...its still the same desire with a different screen cause Samsung has a tight arse on amoled screens...

it just proves once again how little knowledge shop assistants have over actually phones...
