    Hi all,

A friend has a €50k budget to lease a new company car and wants the best 7 seater possible. It must be Diesel and preferably auto with all the nice stuff ie leather, alloys etc.

Is this possible for €50k? His ideal choice would be a VW Touareg but I don't think he'll get a new one of those for €50k.

    Any suggestions?

As in a ford galaxy or the like?

I imagine 50k€ would get him a very well specced one indeed, with cash to spare!

I *think* the Touareg doesnt come with 7 seats, at least not until the new model arrives early next year. Someone might correct me on that though.

If it were me, I'd have a Ford S-Max Titanium S. For 50k he might even get the dealer to order up a Titanium S "Individual" spec which, according to the Ford brochure, is 'not marketed in Ireland'.

Other options... Galaxy, Espace, Grand Scenic, Zafira, C4 Grand Picasso, Sharan. For 50k I'd say you'd be able to tick a nice few boxes on the options list.

    I dont think 50k will get you into an X5, Q7, XC90, Discovery or other SUV-type 7 seaters. Maybe a Quashqai+2?

    Wish it were me:)

    Thanks for that.

He won't go for what he'd perceive as a mammy wagon. Unfortunately he wants the type of suv which is outside his budget it looks like :-(

    Or Santa Fe

I know the older range of JEEPS could be pigs for poor reliability but does anyone know about the more modern range? Would they be worth a recommendation?

I doubt it would be possible to spend €50k on any of those no matter how many option boxes you tick :)

Pity it has to be new. R class all the way.

    Hyundai Santa Fe
some of the Nissan Pathfinders are under 50k

Neither of these would be my cup of tea though.

tick the boxes for builtin satnav and xenon lights & a better stereo & you might get close:D Just imagine the depreciation on a 50k Citroen after a couple of years though:D:D

I guess as usual in these cases, it has to be a list price of under €50k and not what you can actually buy for €50k

Renault Grand Scenic is really worth a look, go for the Tom Tom edition and there's loads of kit. Won't be anywhere near 50k though, on the plus side you could get a 2nd hand S-Max out of the change :D

Go full spec on Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Nav, leather, DVD, and lots more and it will bring you to €55K

Not on the grand scenic anyway. Top spec has sat nav so you still have to try add about €20k of extras. Thats a lot of little flip down tv's and fridges and the like.:)

Anything with 20k of extras is going to depreciate by 20k before delivery.

Jesus Citroen have learnt how to charge for stuff. Are they not putting sat nav in as standard in the top spec yet? The bloody dispatch van has stanard satnav (in the UK anyway)

Anyway, all this is redundant because I assume if he needs a 7 seater from the get go he'll have 6 or 7 people in it regularly so a full size 7 seater is the way to go (Espace, Galaxy, C8 if they still do it, etc)

    Toyota Landcruiser?

You can get leather, DVD, satnav and the lot for around 50k in the 3.2 diesel landcruiser I think.

And then you can't beat the fact it's the most capable suv you can buy. The landcruiser is probably the best vehicle toyota builds.

He wants a SUV not a MPV though.

For 50k you'd easily get the new Merc E-Class Estate:

This car makes a far better statement about yourself than an SUV.

Doubtful you'd get one for under 50k€. Extremely doubtful

You should be able to get one for that money though, they are ridiculously overpriced in passenger guise. Oh and whats more Toyota Ireland, God bless their souls, dont feel we deserve the new model on this side of the water yet...

Isn't the base model around 30k...?
    Lemme check...

Just checked, bloody hell they're way overpriced... The passenger models are twice the price of the commercial yokes... So much for chucking in few extra seats with leather and all...

You could get a used one for 50k i'ld say. A few years of use will make no difference to the landcruiser as they're pretty much bulletproof!

    The big 4l v8 model costs €150k... :O
You could get a supercar for that sort of money!!

The volvo xc90 is another nice suv but I doubt you'll get it for under 50k.
There's the landrover discovery as well but I think that only has 5 seats...

The Disco comes in 7 seats but you would want no shins to sit in the back. Doubt it's 50k though

Starts at 53k... Just checked it.
It's a very nice car and hood offroad as well unlike most SUVs. But for 53k I wonder what the bog standard disco might be like.
I'ld say you could get last years model for under 50k though if you don't mind going for slightly used...

Once his company see the running costs of a 7 seater SUV they'll bring in a ruling of no off roaders in to the company car policy. The Auto's are generally €1,050 or €2,100 a year to tax, and forecasted depreciation is very, very heavy due to the tax costs.

Has anyone here ever been in the back of a Merc E-Class estate with the 7 seats? It's the one to go for if you don't really like your kids. E200Cdi Classic Auto in non-metallic with the 3rd row of seats should just about squeeze under budget.

Galaxy Titanium 140 Auto with metallic will come in just under €50k and is the best value for money 7 seater auto. Will bump him up in to the 35% BIK bracket as emissions are 159g.
