    Hi guys,

New to all this so bear with the stupid questions :o

I need to set my freeview up in the garage room which is a sort of second living room. I rent. The builder I think converted the room at build so was never a garage as such. It has a tv socket in it (round silver connection in white plastic)- yes I'm that bad!:)

My question is I seem to remember my uncle getting freeview from a socket like this a few years ago for me. He's no longer around - was a great man for tinkering with things! and I'm wondering did he only get it working cos sky/chorus had been turned on that socket before by someone at some stage?

I've been told it's not possible and as I share a house and this is my new sitting room and I can't affford cable i'm wondering is there anything I can do. Was told sky in roommates sitting room is only a 1lnb? arm? satellite and so can't run a lead off it.

Can anyone help? Even an explanation?

    Thks a mil,

    Teelady

you'll need a UHF aerial with a good line of sight to one of the Welsh or N Ireland transmitters for Freeview as its only available on terrestrial.

If you or your mate has a satellite dish pointed at Astra 2 (Sky UK/Ire), you could upgrade the lnb on the end of the dish to a 4 output one and run a cable into the garage and use a cheap Free to air satellite receiver, wouldn't cost much for that, omore than 100 bobs.

Thanks a million Snaps, I didn't know you could upgrade the lnb arms on a satellite. I have the freeview boxes for the last few years but my new lease doesn't allow any new satellite dishes etc so thought I was stuck.

    :)
