Have a pallet full in Tesco Maynooth, not sure of other stores

Phillips 14W equivalent of 75W standard bulb reduced from €4.99 to € 1.

Phillips claim they last 10 years

A big saver for electricity bills

Cannot be used with dimmer switches but can be used with timers

Just picked up a supply for my house...bring on the 5% increase in electricity bills

i got five for fifty pence in sainsbury's a few months back. So as far as i'm concerned they are still over priced.

I bought 10 for a quid in London in March. The ripoff continues .

Ten for a pound is nowhere near regular pricing for such bulbs. Nor is 50 pence, even, unless it was an own brand one, I've certainly not seen decent ones for that price in London. Just because you found something for x doesn't mean that the regular pricing is a ripoff.

Got them in the UK as well 10 for £1 - bought 20. Not the regular price, but a promotion sponsored by some electric company. :D:D

Beats paying €4.99 or even €7.99 in Superquinn!:confused:

How about if anybody can get them cheaper in Ireland they post it up here.

I'd guess that, most people are not going to spend 1c for a flight and a few hours to travel to the UK for a few light bulbs.
There is a ripoff thread that you can post in if you think stuff is expensive.

I've bought them for 50c each in Homebase. It was a special offer, so you might get some cheap there, it was a while ago though.

The reason people are posting here about them being available super cheap in UK is they are so light and easy to carry. You can just pop in to any supermarket while in UK and bring them home. Robert Dyas high street stores almost always have a deal on these in UK http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/C~200207~Energy+Saving+Accessories

    Ten years my **rse!
If you're lucky enough for one to last more than about two years, it'll be about half its original brightness and you'll have to change it anyway.

Woodies also have Philips 8kw/11kw bulbs at 5 for €5 for the last few months.
Maybe I should've started a bargain alert about that especially with the 20% off weekends.

We bought a few of those Philips CFL bulbs in a special "sale" two years ago and they have all blown at this stage. So much for long life.

As for the light quality, I took them out of the living areas and put them in the bedroom hallways as they give off very poor quality light compared to the traditional bulbs. They are the modern equivalent of using oil lanterns to read by.

    checked Tesco in Carlow,
they do Not have this deal going.

checked the new 2 Euro shop in the Fairgreen Centre
they have Philips 11w Cfl bulbs buy 2 for €2.

Centra (Marino at least) has a big range low/high wattage screw/push, of Philips CFLs for €1

Oh and for those whose bulbs don't last long, it might be blamed on electrical supply quality (generators etc have an effect apparently) but keep your receipts, could be worth a try to claim against them.

    It is what it's.

Buying any 15w CFL's for €1 is realistically false economy.

There is no way these lightbulbs give out the same power as a 75w incandescent bulb, realistically they would be far less than a 50w bulb and as someone already posted they are no more than that of old oil lanterns.

I would be reluctant to use any of these in a little used stair well never mind a room or bedside lamp. You may be thinking of a great saving now but in time to come you will make up for it at Specsavers.

CFL's are also not good for the health if they get smashed.

We've one in the bathroom. In the middle of the night it's like having a candlelight to find your way until it heats up or whatever. Useless.

The UK prices are subsidised by the UK taxpayer, buy loads and we'll sink their ecomony too... LOL
