Remove if needed but thought perhaps a thread on the weekends club action from across Europe might be a good idea?

A few from Ireland to kick us off.

    Dundalk – Bray

Both sides are woefully out of form, in particular Dundalk who have really hit a slump of late. However I still back the home side here for numerous reasons. Bray still possess the worst away record in the league and certainly look like fulfilling pre-season predictions of finishing last after the turmoil on and off the pitch. They’ve conceded the most goals and scored the least amount. Despite a mini-revival of sorts of late, their fate seems determined and relegation seems a foregone conclusion.

Dundalk on the other hand are experiencing a slump of sorts in recent weeks but a lot of that can be attributed to a tough set of fixtures having played Boh’s, Final, Pats and Sligo of late. Interestingly enough, and perhaps one of the reasons against my selection here is that one of Bray’s only two away wins came in this fixture earlier on in the season. However Dundalk beat Bray away to level that up. Dundalk have been strong enough at home as per usual, beating the top teams in the country at home.

    Dundalk at 3/4

    UCD – Drogheda

Draw written all over this one to be honest. Another two sides on very poor form of late and both have been on the end of a few thrashings of late. They’ll both be eager to try and get out of the slump they’re in and I can see both sides cancelling each other out at Belfield here. UCD have had various problems of late and have really been struggling against certain sides and haven’t won in five games since they played Bray in early July. It’s vital for them that they get some sort of result on Friday and they have a great opportunity to get some points on the board against Drogheda. Drogheda are on terrible form themselves and you have to go the whole way back to the start of July, like UCD, to get their last win. They’ve played each other three times this season already with UCD winning the first two and Drogheda getting the three points last time out.

    Draw at 23/10

    Shamrock Rovers – Sligo

And in a polar opposite than the two fixtures above, this is a clash of the two form sides of the league with both sides on fantastic runs of late. Rovers have gone 15 games without defeat and have been scoring for fun. They’ve been playing some splendid football of late as well and have been by far and away the best team in the league this season. They managed to keep hold of Gary Twigg and he’s had his controversial suspension lifted for this game. That is an absolutely massive boost for the home side and there should be a great atmosphere in Tallaght tomorrow where you’d have to go the whole way back to March to find the last time they lost at home.

Sligo come into this on a fantastic run themselves but not quite as good. The loss on deadline day of Paddy Armond is quite a significant blow to Sligo’s European ambitions. They haven’t lost since the middle of July but they lost two in a row there. It’ll be difficult to stop Rovers in the form they’re in and in the most recent clash between these two Rover’s came out on top, getting all three points away in Sligo. Should be a fantastic game and I can also see it going over 2.5 but I’ll be taking the home win here.

    Shamrock Rovers at 5/6

Also have taken Rovers and Dundalk in a small double at 3.2

A Genoa and Lazio double in the early kick offs in the serie A pays just under 3/1

Genoa have gone to 13/10 at halftime, going to have a bit more on them as they're all over Chievo.

    Birmingham - Wolves

There really isn’t much reasoning behind this selection aside from Birmingham’s well known home record and Wigan’s unpredictability. I try to make a point of not betting on matches involving Wigan but I think the price on them is quite generous. They’ve won all three of the last corresponding fixtures and should do the same again.

    Birmingham to win at 5/6

    Fulham – Everton

All over the draw here today. Two sides which should be equally matched considering recent results and news. Fulham still look like retaining their strong home record under Hughes and it’ll be another tough game for them today. Everton have started the season very poorly as we all know but will be looking to today’s game to try and salvage something. Between the two sides so far this season there’s been ten games and six draws. Neither side will want to lose this so I can see another draw here.

    Draw at 9/4

    Cardiff - Millwall

I’ll gladly take the price on Cardiff here regardless of the players, like Bellamy, missing for the home side. It’s obvious Millwall started the season brightly in the Championship but it seems the might be in the process of being found out now. Tough game for away side here and I’d expect a full three points for the home side who should continue their impressive home record.

    Cardiff -1 at 21/10

    Burnley and Forest

Small double here for me in the Championship. Burnley have done alright since the drop last season and should have enough to see of a poor Bristol City side who have defied all preseason predictions and have really struggled so far. Another side who have started the season poorly has been Nottingham Forest but I reckon they’ll finally get the three points today at home against a Swansea side, who whilst they’ve been playing quite well, still have that fearful stat about playing away hanging over them.

Burnley and Forest double at 3.67

Also going to take a bit of a Serie A double. Over 2.5 in AC – Genoa and Roma-Inter at 3.30

    Newcastle v Wolves

Some of you will have come across a strategy I'm using this season involving dutching the dirty Barton and Smith for First booking in Newcastle games whenever I can and being live this weekend against Stoke, dutching the 2 at best prices will get you odds of 5.24. Both Newcastle live matches this season have come in with Barton doing the business in the 2. Smith's turn tomorrow :). More Tips on this game.

    Barcelona @ 8/13
    Liverpool @ 4/9
    Real Madrid @ 1/4
    Sligo Rovers @ 4/9
    Arsenal @ 1/4

Threw 20 quid on this (just made 25 quid on the favourite in the maiden at Haydock) works out over 5/1

    thoughts?
