    I don't mean to be a pain here, I know there are a lot of threads on this issue but I can't find what I need.

    In regard to teeth whitening,

    what is the best possible method?
    how long does it last?
    are there any side effects?
    what does it cost (loosly)?
    is there an age limit?

    Deep Bleaching is probably the best technique which is a combination of chairside and take home bleach.
    If done properly between 12 months and 24 months.
    Sensitivity is a known side effect.
    Between 200 and 1000 euro (200 for crappy non-dentist delivered bleaching, 1000 for deep bleaching and others are in between)
    No age limit.

    I second that but would like to clarify that results from Deep Bleaching are permanent (with a little maintenance touchup every 6 months).

    You will not have to rebleach the teeth again.

    The reason results from other systems are transient is because the teeth are not thoroughly whitened in the first place. So it only lasts a while, and how long depends on many variables.

    You see, I gave up smoking 9 months ago and my teeth are in a major mess with staining, tbh, I'm not looking to dazzle anyone when I open my mouth, I just don't want to be embarrased to smile in public any more.

    Would any good dentist do this or do I need to go to a specialist?

    I wouldn't be going to just any dentist anyway, I had a very bad experience about 20 years ago and it took a very good dentist to get my confidence back in the profession.

    it has no effect on them other than cleaning them up a bit. sometimes old crowns may look darker than they really are due to a buildup of stain (cigarettes, red wite etc) and bleaching will get rid of that. So would a good cleaning.
