daniels running formula --red plan

    I was running 3 x 3 km per week for a few months and started the red plan on the book but I'm having trouble completing a few runs.

    day 1 workout i feel is easy enough.

    day 2's workout i do the 10min e pace run then i do 2 t pace runs but i can't do the third one and the 10min e pace run im to do for the cool down is pretty difficult.I feel it's more my muscles than my breath that's holding me back

    day 3's workout i do the 10min e pace and 4 of the 6 t pace runs and then 1km e pace cool down run. I'd say if i really pushed myself i'd be able to do the 6 t pace runs but i'd be exhausted.

    day 4s workout i run for 40 mins which is about 4 miles ,that's fine but in the book it says 40 mins or 6 miles, i'm only up to running 4 miles sicne last week and some of the other workouts are around 6 miles.

    So my question is do i keep doing this workout till i can do it all and move onto weeks 5-8 or do i cut out threshold runs or what and just do long e pace runs?

    Go back to the white plan. Your just not ready to step up to the red plan if your struggling on weeks 1 - 4. Try week 13 - 16 on the white plan and see how you get on. Also have you gone through the 'Base phase' he writes about in chapter 5.

    hey Gerard i have taken your advice and went back to week 13 of th white plan and the second workout was tough enough but I think I belong doing that for another few weeks till I build up the miles.
