I know lots of folks prefer to play old console's etc on CRT's..

I've just purchased a new TV, so will be getting rid of an old 33" Ferguson M8421U CRT. I can get them to take it away under the WEEE rules, so all I ask is that if you say you will take it, then you actually come and take it, and don't leave me with this huge assed TV taking up space. If you are 50/50 or need to ask permission, then please do the decent thing and check before you say you will take it. It won't fit in a mini, so if you don't have suitable transport then don't say you will take it... :)

(I'm not trying to be an arse, but I have been let down by folks before and I really don't want to be stuck with the TV if I can just give it to the delivery men to take away..)

This TV (being CRT) is large and heavy!

TV won't be available for about 2 weeks.. and is in Carbury in Kildare..

If anyone's intersted, let me know and i can put up some pics, model number etc and measure it for you

    It is :)

I have uploaded a few photo's (poor quality camera phone, and screen was dusty, the picture is actually better than it looks)..

    Did some quick measurements..

Diagonal size (edge to edge) - 39"
    Screen Size - 32"
    Depth - 22"
    Width - 30"

    and it's heavy..

    Connections - 2 x Scart, 1 x RF, 1 x S-Video, 1 x Composite (Red/White - Sound / Yellow Video) & 1 Headphone socket..

TV was released in 1998.. This probably dates from about 2000-2002.
Works fine.. Whites are bright for about 2 seconds after switching on, but to be honest I havent said down and configured it in years.

I will be keeping the stand.. but it does come with the remote.

So if you still want it, then let me know and we can work out a date for collection (my new TV is being delivered on the 9th, but if you give me your word you will collect, I can store this in the garage for a bit :)).

Otherwise I can pass it on to the next in line :)

    Cheers,
    Welease.

Polyfusion, you still interested? (or anyone else... delivery is in 2 days, so I kinda need a confirmed yes or no from someone soon).

(there is something I need to check out.. in the last couple of days when you turn the TV on the retuning menu pops up.. One click of a button on the remote and it disappears, but just thought i'd mention it).

I would definitely take it. I'm not working this week, so could collect it whenever suits yourself, even during the daytime.

    Thanks.

    TV collected.. thanks Poly..

BTW.. the 3 year old sobbed for a couple of hours and sat beside the space where the TV was after you went.. "Daddy... TV gone" was all we heard.. She finally cheered up when Argos arrived :) Hope you got it home ok..

Aww, thought there might have been some waterworks after I left with the TV; I'm sure they're happy with the new one though, like being at the cinema, the size of it. Good to hear ye weren't too long without though.

I got back ok, had to lean against the box going around some left-hand bends (and there were quite a few) to prevent myself being removed from the car, and thankfully didn't need to use the handbrake the whole way back, so that was a relief.

Seems the TV doesn't jump into the installation menu once it's been tuned; have been switching it on and off a few times, and it's holding channels, though something must have triggered it the first time it happened to you. I guess being left off overnight or for a few days will tell if it recurs, but it's not a big issue anyway if it does.

Thanks again for the box (and the coffee); it's still got a great picture (had a play around with the settings), and will do me for the foreseeable future.
