Discrepancies with ARM4

Hey lads im currently doing a thesis for my masters course in DIT Bolton Street on the QS perpective: 'Are we been served adequately by ARM4 in relation to M & E' and I have a query if someone can help me out with it.

According to the new government form of contract (GCCC) we have to use a recognized method of measurement in conjunction with it, thus CESMM for Civil Works and ARM4 for Building Works. However in the GCCC provisional sums along with PC sums have been removed but are still present in the new ARM4.

My question is how is this thus dealt with in practice, does it lead to any discrepancies and is there a need for a revision of ARM4.

    Any input would be appreciated.

...there's a HUGE need for revision in terms of the GCCC - how about they get construction professionals involved next time they write something like that...not just accountants!!...Sorry, I could rant for hours about this and still not answer your question!:o
