Post-Extraction Care at a Music Festival!

I had a very bad back tooth extracted today that was causing all sorts of lovely infections on my gums and throat, it was also in the way of a wisdom tooth that is slowly beginning to surface. It was a massive tooth and I'm now a bit sore and drooling blood! I told my dentist that I was going to Electric Picnic and he said I shouldn't have any problems, just to rinse my mouth with salty water and to take panadol, and antibiotics only if it gets very bad. Will the gum heal properly if I'm drinking and having a smoke aswell? Or should I just go on the dry for the weekend? This would be tortuous but I don't fancy having any more trouble with my teeth especially if its self inflicted.

Please don't smoke - you are setting yourself up for a dry socket which will be agony at a festival. No pain killer will relieve this for you, only dental care.. doubt many dentists will be 'working' at the Picnic!

Bring a small salt cellar (or nicely request a few sachets of salt from your nearest deli counter) and have a few with you over the weekend. Mix with some water and have a good rinse especially in the extraction area as often as you think of it. Try to brush before you sleep.. if you do.. :D
