Mk 1 Ford Focus estate 1.4?

I just noticed an ad for a Focus estate that claims it has a 1.4 engine.
I didn't think the estate had the option of a 1.4.

There are no images so the thing could just be a hatchback and the seller's an eejit.

Any ideas if this is correct?

There was a 1.4 option in the estate alright, friend of mine had one..

Yeah, I've seen a couple more of them online since.
Don't know if it was an option in the UK as Parkers doesn't list a 1.4.

    Any opinion on them?
Had been looking at the 1.4 hatch. Does the extra bulk of the estate blunt performance much?

A neighbour of my parents has a 2000 reg Focus 1.4 estate since new and it is still going strong.

BTW the 1.4 wasn't available in the UK, not in the estate anyway.

There's no performance so to speak of in the 1.4 hatch anyway so the estate wont be winning any races. My dad used to have a 1.6 when I had my 1.4 and he used to get far superior economy

I had a 1.6 estate (LX trim only in Ireland) and it was a pretty good car.

I had one, a 00 WW reg one. Slightly underpowered for the size of the car but fine with 1 or 2 people in. You notice the lack of power when its fullyl oaded with 5 people, just have to rev it a little bit more and fully use the power band in each gear if your heavily loaded. Got about 29-32MPG around the city and on long trips fully loaded got about 38-40mpg.

I had a 1.4 saloon, a bit underpowered, but a good reliable car. Good MPG. Never gave a days trouble.

I had the 1.8 TDDI estate. Lovely lovely motor !

I think the 1.4 petrol estate was never sold in the UK but was here. And incidentally, the TDDI diesels went on sale in Ireland in 1999 before they did in the UK (in 2000!) :D

    Sounds good!
Considering how much I use my car I'll probably save myself the 200€ on tax and insurance every year and get the 1.4 instead of the 1.6.
