Does any one have any idea what the story is with paying fees and student charges. I can't make out from the literature in the orientation pack if we're meant to send the form back, bring it with us to registration or wait for the college to send us yet another form.

Yeah, the orientation pack is pretty confusing. I think you send the form back to Trinity and then they send you back a bill for the tuition, or something.

They shagged up my orientation pack, told me I needed to get loads of vacinations and blood tests. Rang em up and they were lik "whoops", eejits.

You received in your pack a bank giro form

This quotes the fees the College from there records believe are due, this is based on your CAO application details.

If you are entitled to free fees the form should have 3 entries on it

    1. Student Services Charge
    2. Sports Centre
    3. USI levy

You don't have to pay the USI levy and if you contact the fees office they will happily issue the fees demand with the amount removed.

You must pay the charges due before registration and bring a receipt, either the stamped giro form if you paid in a bank (Bank of Ireland) or the receipt if you paid online.

If you do not qualify for free fees the tuition fee will be added as well. If you believe you qualify for free fees but are being charged the tuition then contact the fees office

I didn't, and I don't think anyone else did in their orientation packs, got forms but no bank giro and am just hoping they will post one I guess, is anyone else just waiting too or should I ring them?

I don't think anyone has received one?! The online deadline for paying was not for JF anyway and afaik they'll be sending them out once you send back the form(s) from the orientation packs.

Well, how soon will that be? Just because I sent that form off pretty much as soon as I got the pack, and neither I nor anyone else I know has gotten anything back.

If you're confident you're getting the gra,t go onto epay, and log in, and click pay different amount, and pay the 85 euro (or 77 euro if you wish)

What if you are definitely not getting the grant and will have to pay that registration fee? Like, should I wait for a bank giro to arrive or is there somewhere to pay online? I don't want to go over some deadline by accident, but they've been so unclear about this.

    https://tcdlocalportal.tcd.ie/pls/fees/fees_app.main

Enter your CAO number and see what you get.

You should get a formal printed document with what you owe printed on it.

You should get the giro in the post shortly, but I wouldn't be too worried. Once you've paid your fees 5 working days ahead of your registration date, you're grand. I've been told this by the Fees Office, and this confirms it. :) However, if you haven't received it and you're starting to get worried that it's getting too close to the registration date for comfort, here's the contact details for Student Fees. :)

That, or you can pay online (details are in that first link), and again it's the 5 working days afaik.

Thank you very much! I wasn't overly worried as none of the stuff the college sent out was like, "PAY NOW!", but then looking at this...:

This page told me the fees were due by the 1st of September (aka: two days ago), cue mini-heart attack!

I think I will use that contact info and get in touch with them, Aoibheann, because I seriously didn't know they wanted all this stuff so soon. (if that link is to be believed).
    Did anyone?

    Can anyone help me?
I know I'm going to be paying tuition fee because I haven't got an EU passport but I am an EU student because I have been living here for 5 years. Do I have to fill out any forms or anything?

You will receive a giro for the fees from the Fees Office. If you don't give them a call.

Don't worry about it! You'll get a giro for €1585, most likely, but now that you're getting the grant you only need to pay €85 of that - so you basically just alter your giro to state that you're paying that amount.

Then, when you're going in to register, you'll need to bring confirmation from the grant awarding body (county council etc) that you're getting the grant as proof.

Thanks a million :D Just waiting on that giro now, money's always the problem  but thanks again.

Are people still waiting on the giro?
I didn't ring them to tell them I didn't get one, but I assume they know they didn't send me one.. I've only sent off that yellow form 2 or 3 days ago though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 143 ✭✭JamesJB

I haven't sent off that yellow form (FRS1) yet and I see that the deadline was apparently the 1st. I see that some other concerned commenter has been told not to worry, so I'll just ask this: If I send off this form tomorrow, and pay the fees online tomorrow also, will that suffice?

EDIT: I went to an earlier thread and it says there that it's no problem. Sorry, my inquiry was a bit of a knee jerk reaction to the whole 'due 1st September' thing!

    There's no apostrophes in "fees".

"There's" is a contraction of "there is" and should therefore only be used in the singular. Your sentence should read either "There's no apostrophe in fees" or "there are no apostrophes in fees". Thank you and goodnight.

I'm panicking. I haven't sent the FRS1 form yet and I'm not home to pick up anything they send me. Can I just cut the FRS1 form from the orientation pack and send it to Trinity? (btw when's the deadline for the forms? same as the fees?)

and I don't understand the fee deadline. 5 working days before registration. When is registration? 20th or 24th?

The form can be pulled out via the perforation. Look closely at the edge of the margin

In your pack it should have your registration day. I'm unsure if everyone is on the same day but I'm on the Friday of Freshers' Week. Fees have to be in 5 days before. I read in another thread that if you pay within 5 days and are unsure about having confirmation, bring your receipt or w/e from the bank as proof. I'll be bringing that with me anyway and I expect to pay in the next week so yeah.

just pay it by the 15th... save the hassle of an arguement...
