Hi, I am an unmarried male I have a 4 month old baby. This is probably a stupid question but am I entitled to additional tax credits?

Are you living with your partner? if yes - no extra credits

If no, you can claim a one parent family credit of €1830 for the year

If you are the sole carer of the child you are entitled to the additional tax credit as already advisd to you but if your partner is looking after the child she may be entitled to the claim. either of you but not both can claim.

I don't think that is correct mongarra,

As long as the child resides with each parent for part of the year, they are both entited to the credit providing they are not living together

Per IT9 on the Revenue site:

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it9.html

"Each qualifying claimant can claim the full tax credit for a dependent child provided the qualifying conditions are met and the child resides with each claimant for at least part of the relevant year."

Legend is correct- the requirement is that you make a place available for them to stay, even if they only stay one day of the year you are entitled to the credit.
