Heading to edinbrugh next weekend for a lads weekend, everything is paid for bar food & drink. I was wondering is it expensive to eat & drink over there....want to know how much sterling to get.

the simple answer is it all depends.....you could drink all the time in a wetherspoons pub and drink quite cheaply, you could eat in fast food places and eat quite cheaply.

In my experience it is a bit cheaper than Ireland but as others said it depends what you are looking for. There are hundreds of pubs that do food at reasonable prices. Lots of restaurants do set menus where you get three course quite cheaply but your choice is limited. There are hundreds of fast food places there but to be honest I have no idea are they cheaper or more expensive than here.

Drinks seem to be cheaper there here. Go off the main tourist areas for better prices. Avoid hotel bars and restaurants as they tend to be dearer.

even in the pubs on/near the Royal mile/Grassmarket, you'll find that competition means there's plenty of special offers on the go. Might be BOGOF, might be one brand of vodka & 1 beer are particularly cheap, I remember one pub had "women drink free" happy hours!

Don't be shy about asking a local which pubs are currently doing the best deals.

Plenty of cheap but certainly edible pub grub too.

There's also plenty of upmarket places that'd empty your wallet quick enough, but in general you'll find pubs are a whole lot cheaper than here.

    enjoy
