looking for archive film

    Hello,

    I would love to know if I can obtain archive film material from a news programme shown by RTE back in the late 70's.

    I know it exists, because the footage was used again by David McWilliams in "Ireland's Generation Game" back in 2007 and I just happened to see it.

    It was originally on an Irish language programme such as "Feach" or "Radharc"
    circa 1977.

    Looking for the full version? I take it you've browsed through RTE's archive section on their website?

    A better bet might be to have a look at TCD's film index, which contains quite a few RTE bits and bobs (e.g., here are the "radharc" returns: http://www.tcd.ie/irishfilm/search.php?s=All&q=radharc ) and if you find it, at least you know exactly what to ask for when you go back to RTE.

    Don't know if this is of any help, but at least it's a start!

    By the way, do you know that all of "The Generation Game" is available for free at davidmcwilliams.ie?

    Actually looking for a 15 sec clip
    Looking at the TCD link, I have deduced that the programme I'm looking for is most likely "feach" 1977.Ther's loads of them listed - what to do from there?
    Downloading from McWilliams own site has produced any results but I will keep trying it
    That Tcd link is probably what I want but I don't know what to do with ref. numbers.

    "The Generation Game" is also on you tube, if that's any help.

    Looking at the RTE archive site, I see they charge a minimum of 65 Euro plus VAT for providing copies of TV material, so that's probably best avoided, especially as it's just a small clip you want.

    I wonder if the clip you are after was featured on "Reeling in the Years"? There's a synopsis of stuff here (click on the year) and that's on you tube as well.
