Hygienist recommendation needed!!

Hi - I've recently had a consultation with a dentist in Co Down. Firstly I am a very, very nervous patient that needs a lot of work done and finally took the jump and went. I chose Northern Ireland due to the amount of work that needs to be done and the name of the clinic, which indicated that they would use kid gloves with nervy patients.
Anyway, he needs me to see a hygienist prior to my treatment. We were hoping to get it all done on the same day, but it transpired that the first available appointment for both the dentist and their resident hygienist (who is only there one day a week) was the end of October. After finally taking the plunge, I didn't want to wait that long, so made the appointment for the dentist for the end of September, and said I would find a hygienist myself.
Can anyone direct me to a dental hygienist either in Dublin or Northern Ireland that will just do that work, under conscious sedation? A few places I've rang in NI will only do it if you've booked all your dental treatment with their dentist. And though I've been googling, I can't as yet locate anywhere obvious in Dublin.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.

hygenists are not licensed to work on their own. The dentist overseeing the practise has to make a diagnosis and referral to the hygenist. So wherever you go you have to see a dentist first.

    Hi Georgieporgy

Thanks for your reply! As it happens I got a call today from the dental practice doing my treatment and their hygienist has had a cancellation, so happy days!

    Thanks again for your post.
