Can anyone suggest what colour fascia and soffit to put on a house with a grey slate roof, brick chimneys and off-white windows?

    Thanks in advance

Grey might be nice, a softer colour with off white windows?

We are going wit h grey, with black slates, grey windows and cement plaster finish.

Check your planning conditions - mine say the following:

"All rainwater goods, bargeboards, fascias and soffits shall blend with the roof."

This is of course open to interpretation.

am delighted with this suggestion - i like the dark grey PVC with the natural slate - however my other half is veering towards the dark brown woodgrain - we have wider than avarage eaves..will post a photo of the house when we decide..it's all decisions now...windows not even ordered yet (but colour picked of course!) and plasterers chomping at the bit - pressure on to get it closed up for the winter ..slates arriving tomorrow and i've been reminded of the many thousand nails that will be hammered in over the next week!!

Thanks for this Fergus - will check the planning - the only restriction i can remember of the top of my head is 'No white PVC windows, fascia or soffit'

Match it to the roof, my bro did and it looks great. Show your other half a horrible house with her idea and a lovely house with your preference. Job done!

I think black is one of the nicer colors. Its subjective of course to what the rest of the house is made up of, but it seems to work well where ever I have seen it.

What I personally dont like is a wood effect soffit that matches the wood effect windows, seems to my eye that there is too much uniform wood going on in the house then, especially if the windows run directly into the soffit.

are going with uPVC woodgrain off white windows.
have put natural slate on the roof and it looks fantastic - dark grey - with the brick chimneys, but am afraid now that the uPVC fascia will look too plasticky..however everyone is telling me that painted timber boards will need to be replaced down the line and the uPVC will work out better in the long run

What did you eventually decide to go for? Any pics? I am trying to decide on the fascia & sofffit at the minute myself. Im also looking at products other than pvc for the fascia & soffit as I do not like the way the corners are finished with those plastic trims

we went with rosewood woodgrain pvc in the finish would you believe it?and it looks great! i thought the gray looked too plasticky. have tried attaching photo but dont know how to do it with the options here

Have you any pics of that aluminium fascia? Are there issues with the lifespan of softwood timbers beneath the aluminium fascia? In the past I would have thought that they looked cheap and dent easily but I suppose it all depends on their design. A painted teak board would be my preference if maintenance was not an issue so I want to get something that looks as good as this without the maintenance and which also protects the softwood timbers beneath which are treated with 2 coats of protim. There must be some uPVC products out there where the finish at the corners are good enough that they do not have to use plastic trims?

thers should be no problem with the sub fascia if it is pressure treated and properly ventilated. as for looking cheap thats your opinion. was it done properly?? there is an option of ogee aluminium fascia. in a perfect world we would all have hardwood fascia and soffit, but it also has its problems.images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRLuCshuSQKt7l1NQS2-fUVjM2FD6qhu0vEvIZl9LicfLnwGXw6AA

Yep, I should have pressure treated my sub-fascia to give more protection but its up now so I will have to be more careful with the type of fascia and soffit I use! Thanks for the pic, ronaldo84 - Im still investinating uPVC products but with the joints neatly mitred at the corners (without those corner trims). I hope to use a square edge board 300mm high x 18mm with a matt black finish, my maximum gable length for the bargeboard is 5.5m

i mitered the corners before looks good when done but over time they will open up due to expansion of the uPVC in hot and cold weather you would be better of using the corner pieces

Can anybody tell me where they got a grey (dark grey) fascia board and guttering? Currently in the same predicament. Black is too dark and too much of a contrast

    Cheers
