    Hi,
i've to spread lime for REPS and i've priced bulk €22 per tonne spread off McGraths.
granulated stuff is €300 per tonne i'm told.
at a rate of 2 tonne bulk to the acre or 100kgs (2 bags) of the granulated this is working out at €44 for bulk and €60 for granulated and spread it yourself.
how does all this sound, are my sum correct?
    any advice appreciated.

I`d go with the bulk lime, 2 bags of granulated per acre isn't much and after all its the calcium in the lime that your buying so by bulk your getting a hell of a lot more of it.
This dry spell is a great time to spread it. Be warned though that lime on heavy soft-land can make it ten times softer!!:D

I got it delivered and spread for €20 per tonne. Lorry load is 20 tonnes so order it multiples of this!

REPS allow 1 tonne of granulated to count for 3 tonne of bulk. When I did the sums on it, it worked out 3/4 times dearer. You then have the bother and cost of spreading it after that. And you have to spread it for 5 years.

That sounds dear. I was quoted €190 per tonne in early summer and I know the figure of €130 was mentioned here in previous posts if bought in enough quantity.

I'd still go for the bulk at €20 per tonne. The granulated is fine if you've a small bit to do and you only need a few bags.

first of all give mc grath no more than €20 per ton delivered and spread

talk to your reps planner I do not think that 2 bags will correspond to 2 ton for reps, Gran lime is available for €170 per ton for minimum 6 ton order

lads, where are ye getting those prices for granulated lime ? ? ?

I got acheson and glover granulated lime for €140 per ton in 50kg bags last week from the local co-op. It was for a bit of reseeding that i was doing and it wouldn't have paid to get a contractor in to do it.

Dairygold are selling grasslands version of it for €183 a tonne when I bought some a month ago, so divide by 20. Judging from above looks like I should have tried kerry agri
