    Pretty much.
If you're lucky you might find a cheapish Gaggia on ebay.
But if you really want to experience coffee then I'm afraid you need to spend a bit more.

OP - You definitely need to double your budget for a decent starter espresso machine - if you did and your patient you'd pick up a second hand gaggia - just keep an eye out on www.adverts.ie

I must warn you though that once you get one the spending won't stop there as more importantly you'll want a good grinder and a decent tamper (never mind cleaning products). The grinder will cost you around about the same price as the espresso machine.

On the other hand - if all you want to use is preground espresso from packets in supermarkets then you may as well just buy a cheap machine - should be loads of them out there second hand.

    great, thanks donnacha

I think i'll go for a cheap one so and ensure I'm gonna keep using it and its not just a phase i'm goin through (as the wife would so)

Why dont you go for a moka pot for now. It would keep you going until you get the cash together for a decent espresso machine.

    I wondered how they worked..

seems like a lot of work for one cup though....boiling and cleaning wise

If your budget is 100 euro, try getting a nespresso machine on ebay/buyandsell. Its the best espresso you can make with that budget. The capsules are expensive, but its consistent, nice espresso & requires much less cleaning.

If you want to go down the road of an espresso machine & perfecting espresso shots then you'll need to invest a lot more

ordered this one yesterday. I seen it in my local debenhams and thougt it was nice.... it was e176 too, got it for about 90 from amazon.

I bought the delonghi EC270 about 2 years for 130 euro. Never had a moments hassle with it. Making lattes can be a bit laborious though and the steamer arm is too close to whatever surface you have the machine on, so can only do latte in standard coffee cups, unless you elevate the machine. Looks like the arm on yours might swivel out though.

What kind of coffee would you use in it?

I got 50 free 'illy' tea bag like things in a metal can with mine.

I just drink espressos. I use the black label Lavazza, it's nice and strong.
